Guides to the rankings

269 country guides and 10 category guides, written from the live data and regenerated as it changes.

By country

Where every country ranks

Each guide lists every live ranking that includes the country: where it is number one, its top-10 finishes, what moved at the last refresh and where it ranks lowest. Pick a country.

About these guides

Written from the data, not about it

Every guide on this page is generated from the newest published snapshot of each ranking on Top10Earth. A country guide gathers the positions, values, sources and capture dates for one country across all of the live country rankings, then explains what moved since the previous snapshot and how far each position has travelled since the first one we recorded. A category guide does the same for a whole family of rankings: what each one measures, who leads it today, which sources it draws on and how often it refreshes.

Because the text is built from stored numbers, it is regenerated whenever the data changes; the newest guide was rebuilt on 2026-11-02. Nothing is estimated or written from memory. If a sentence names a value, that value is in a snapshot you can open, and the ranking page behind it shows its methodology and the original dataset.

How to use them

Start with a country to see its whole profile in one read, then follow the links into individual rankings for the full table, the rank-history chart and the head-to-head pages. Start with a category when you want to understand the field: the health guide, for example, lists every health ranking, the current number one in each and the quiz for each.

Guides are not opinion pieces and they are not advice. A ranking is one metric from one source at one time, and being last in a table can be the good outcome, as it is for emissions or mortality. The written "Where it ranks lowest" section is there precisely so the picture is complete rather than flattering. Team-written posts about new rankings, records and features live in the news section.
